New Delhi, October 3 (Read News): Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)the state-run telecom operator, has soft launched its VoWi-Fi (Voice over Wi-Fi) services for customers in the west and south zone circlesmarking another significant step in its network modernization efforts.
VoWi-Fi enables users to make voice calls using Wi-Fi networksoffering improved call quality and connectivity, especially in low network coverage areas. With this rollout, BSNL joins private telecom operators who have been offering Wi-Fi calling services for several years.
The announcement was made by A Robert J Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BSNL, during the Silver Jubilee celebrationsmarking 25 years since the company’s incorporation. Alongside VoWi-Fi, BSNL also launched 4G as a service in Mumbai and nationwide eSIM support in partnership with Tata Communications.

The company also plans to launch 5G in New Delhi and Mumbai by the end of 2025as part of its strategy to compete with private telcos in mobile, 5G, and satellite communication (satcom) segments.
